It is particularly effective in promoting blood vessel health in people with elevated cholesterol levels. Beetroot juice consumption improved blood flow by 24% compared to a low-nitrate beetroot placebo (fake beetroot). Beetroot also had a small effect on reducing blood clots and in changing salivary microbes to a type better linked to cardiovascular health. Beetroot juice improves blood vessel health.
