Coffee drinking decreases the risk of cirrhosis of the liver by 80%.

Liver cirrhosis is a chronic condition where scar tissue replaces normal liver cells. Causes include alcohol, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. An international group of scientists compared 125 patients with liver cancer with 250 control subjects. Coffee drinkers showed substantially fewer blood markers of inflammation and liver cell injury. Coffee appears to protect the liver by reducing inflammation. Liver cancer is an extremely deadly form of cancer. Regular coffee drinking might help protect you.
