coffee does not lead to high blood pressure

Category: Nutritional Articles

Physicians have often recommended reducing or eliminating coffee consumption to reduce blood pressure.

That’s a mistake – according to a study led by Jinnie Rhee from Stanford University School of Medicine. Researchers found no relationship between consumption of caffeinated coffee, decaffeinated coffee or caffeine hypertension (high blood pressure). They measured systolic and diastolic blood pressure (higher and lower blood pressure numbers) three different times, and compared them with self-reported consumption of these products in postmenopausal women. Coffee promotes longevity, and can improve physical and mental performance. It contains powerful antioxidants that prevent cell deterioration. It might reduce the risk of some cancers and promote blood sugar regulation. Coffee is a healthy addition to the well-balance diet.
