A review of literature and meta-analysis combining the results of 61 controlled intervention trials, led by Liana Del Gobbo from Tufts University in Boston, concluded that nuts decrease total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B (ApoB) and triglycerides. The number of nuts in the diet was more important than the type of nuts. Consumption of nuts promotes weight control by displacing less healthy foods in the diet and by fighting huger.
